Should You Use Guitar Lesson DVD's?One of the best ways to learn guitar, is through guitar lesson DVD’s. This is a good option if you’re trying to teach yourself, and it can also go well with having lessons from a teacher, if that’s something you do. The advantages of DVD guitar lessons other media (such as books) is the fact that you can SEE what’s happening. This is a big help for most people, especially if you’re a visual learner. |

But personally, there isn’t any DVD’s we specifically recommend. Why? Because most of them are either too basic (which is fine if you’re a beginner just getting started) or they are too specialized (usually detailing particular styles or techniques). Now guitar lesson DVD’s ARE good if they are teaching you what you want to learn. But we think it’s better to get a general understanding of how music works, and how it works on the guitar. This includes learning scales, chords, and songs etc, so you can make your own music – or learn other songs simply by hearing them. If you’re looking for a structured “learn guitar” home study course which uses DVDs, we recommend learn & master guitar. It’s a little more expensive than just a single guitar DVD, but it’s fully comprehensive – so you won’t need to buy anything else. |
